Career: the job-search machinery¶
How to turn the work in this repo into interviews and offers at core-AI teams (or into credibility for the founder track): the résumé, stories, outreach, the application funnel, negotiation, public proof of work, and routines that keep you going for a year.
Condensed from an earlier, longer playbook (the full original is in git history, commit de97e92), then rebuilt around templates and scripts you can use directly.
Principles¶
- Honesty is a strategy. Every claim will be probed by people who know more than you. Use only numbers you can source from your own records, understate, and over-deliver. The résumé guide and story bank flag the numbers that still need checking.
- Evidence over prediction. This module gives no invented probabilities of getting hired. Track leading indicators instead (profile.md) and change the plan when they stall.
- Durable vs volatile. Advice here is durable. Company-specific facts (teams, interview formats, compensation, visa rules) change, so they live in dated places: the company guides, market-intel.md and visa-and-relocation.md. Re-verify before acting.
- Proof of work beats claims. A linked lab, a write-up with error bars and a merged pull request persuade more than any adjective on a résumé.
Start here¶
| when (see ROADMAP) | do |
|---|---|
| now, and every quarter | update profile.md; fix the open issues in resume/guide.md |
| from stage 2 (first blog post) | run the proof-of-work plan; start building relationships |
| stage 7 (values answers) | write the values and mission answers and the story bank |
| from May 2027 | pick targets with the company guides; run the funnel in waves |
| when an offer arrives | offers-and-negotiation.md: scripts and the comparison table |
| always | sustainability.md: the weekly and monthly routines |
Files¶
| file | use it when | what's inside |
|---|---|---|
| profile.md | quarterly self-assessment | assets, gaps, leading indicators |
| resume/guide.md | fixing or tailoring the résumé | open issues to verify, bullet rewrites, a core-AI checklist |
| stories.md | behavioral and values rounds | story template, story index, numbers to verify, values prep |
| outreach.md | referrals and cold contact | annotated message templates, follow-up rules |
| applications.md | running the funnel | tracker, recruiter-call script, debrief template, funnel diagnostics |
| offers-and-negotiation.md | once an offer exists | negotiation scripts, offer-comparison table, India CTC decoding |
| market-intel.md | choosing targets | map of segments to the company guides, how to research a team |
| visa-and-relocation.md | planning a move abroad | routes by country, questions to ask |
| public-presence.md | building public proof of work | 12-month plan for blog, open source, Hugging Face |
| sustainability.md | every week | routines, warning signs, what to do when stuck |
Tip
Spend career time in proportion to the stage. Before May 2027, about 2 hours a week (one relationship, one piece of public work) is enough; the labs are the main job. From May, applications and mocks take a larger share, as the roadmap describes.
